Paddles up! Take it away!

On June 10, Longo's participated in the 9th annual Mississauga Dragon Boat Festival held at the mouth of the Credit River in the beautiful Port Credit, in support of Cardiac Kids.

Cardiac Kids is a volunteer group established in 2000 to raise much-needed funds for children who are suffering from congenital heart disease. 1 in 100 Canadian children are born with a congenital heart defect and more than half need surgery to survive. Funds raised by Cardiac Kids are used to support the children and staff of the cardiology ward at The Hospital for Sick Children.

This year's festival had an all-time high of 53 teams participating—raising more than $20,000 for this great cause. Awesome!

Big thanks and congratulations to our team members for their dedication and hard work (paddling their arms off) and also taking home a bronze medal in the mixed corporate & community division with a race finish time of 01.05.9—in a 200 metre sprint. Go team Longo’s! We're very proud of all of you.

We're also excited to share this video created by our team member, Natz Passafiume, who participated in the event and also took the time to put this video together to give us a peak into the events of the day. Thanks Natz, and well done!

Big hearts helping little hearts with some friendly dragon boat racing. :)
